I ate too much here but I have no regrets - great food. Surprisingly for a pub, the ale selection is poor and my wine was not great either, but I guess it's more of a dining specialist and on that front does not disappoint at all. A good ranging menu with lots of appealing options for a range of tastes including some nice healthy options (e.g. fancy salad and fresh fish, which my friend had and I should have had...)

I went here for dinner with a group of 4, it was a busy night and most tables had reservations but they said they could serve us if we could be done in about an hour and 15 minutes. They sat us at a nice window table, service was excellent and the menu had many options. The beer selection was good and wine was very good. I had the pork cheeks and it was awesome. Others in my group had a steak, Shepherds pie and all enjoyed the meal. I know next time in town I will have reservations for this restaurant. Super service and staff.

Yes, this is as good as it gets... I've only eaten in the wine bar downstairs but I've been told that the upstairs is the same menu but a more elegant setting.... It's all good... I've been coming to Bill and Vic's since 1990 and it's been fabulous the entire time. They've got Guinness and Theakstons bitter on tap to start. What more could you ask for? The wine selection is good as well but these are not the high points... The menu selection is very large for all courses. At our table this evening there was Shepherds Pie, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, halibut, and roasted lamb with a very lightly minted sauce. The piece of lamb was ginormous - a rectangular shape about4x4+x3 inches... The inside was so tender you barely needed a knife while the top had a nice crust on it. There was little to no fat. The brown gravy had just a hint of mint and was not sweet at all. Perfect! It was served with 3 perfectly roasted and peeled potato pieces. All dinners came with an assortment of vegetables which deserve a shout out for themselves alone! The following were served family style which allowed the non-veg eaters to escape and the veg lovers to indulge: braised purple cabbage, mashed carrot and parsnip, and large cauliflower florets in a thick cream sauce with a hint of cheddar cheese on the top.... The best part is this... Great food memories are sometimes embellished upon only to find upon returning from a long hiatus that it's just not as good... Not here!!! EXCELLENT food remains in the house!!! While we did not have room for dessert as the portions were so generous, the selection was very good. Try their banoffee pie (caramel and fresh banana with whipped cream), sticky toffee pudding, or a chocolate pots de creme to round out your meal. The port selection and after dinner drinks are nice too. The service was prompt, unobtrusive, handy, polite and helpful. Can't ask for more.... This wine bar is a MUST DINE at in Harrogate!

My wife and myself checked this place out on a recent trip to Harrogate and wow they don't make em like these anymore! It's the sort of place that works for most occasions - it was a great night out for a date night with my wife but on the other side of the coin I can see my grandma being happy going here for a family meal (it's not old peopley at all, just very classic in style and my grandma is a bit of a lush...) A lovely rickety setting, all candelight and tiny rooms separated by wood panelling, we really enjoyed a nice chill in the bar with a glass of bubbly while choosing our food, the front of house keeping us in the loop and welcome at every turn. The food is classic British but done to a crisp and modern way, the pork was fantastic and I was in love with the bread - it's just all done really well! If you're after a lovely meal in a fantastic classic British setting then this is the place for you. It doesn't break the bank but it is in the higher end of casual dining - well worth it for ambience and setting though.

We are lucky to be situated in the beautiful town of Harrogate and take advantage of all the fantastic Yorkshire produce on offer to us. Both the wine bar and restaurant have inviting bar areas to enjoy a drink whether you are eating with us or not. The busy 'bistro style' wine bar serves a wide selection of British classics and we have over 150 wines to appeal to everyone's taste and pocket. Lunch is served daily in the wine bar with traditional Sunday lunch available 12 noon until 5pm every Sunday. The stylishly decorated upstairs restaurant has an a La Carte menu with seasonal daily specials and a popular early bird option served 6pm to 7.30pm Monday to Friday and 6pm to 7pm Friday and Saturdays(2 courses £11.95 / 3 courses £14.95). The restaurant is available for private functions from intimate weddings to business conferences of up to 60 people. We hope you will come and visit us soon! So maybe this isn't the punchiest name ever but it certainly fits when you see it. We are in Harrogate after all. Names such as William and Victoria seem very apt. So what do we have in store for you? Hold your horses and I'll tell you. This is a family run restaurant and wine bar serving traditional British food in the heart of Harrogate. And they do it well. Downstairs is the bar where you can relax is nice surroundings and grab a bistro style bite. Upstairs is a sit down area to extinguish those hunger pangs and have a pleasant evening in style. So if you want a special meal head upstairs. You'll find fresh ingredients cooked well and the likes of Black Puddings, duck, lamb, fish and tasty vegetarian food. It's all there for you. See ambassador they really are spoiling us. To save on the purse go for an early bird which will set you back under £12 for two courses. Downstairs and it really is a grape lovers' total dream. Over 150, yes 150, different wines to get stuck into. That's one good night out in my book but for the rest of you it may take you a while to work through it. Excellent on so many levels and one in the front of my favourite wine places to go.

One of Harrogate's best bistro/restaurants. Upstairs there is a proper restaurant which serves really delicious traditional food, and downstairs is a more casual bistro type area. The menus reflect whichever eatery you've chosen but you are assured of a full and satisfied tummy in both and the food is excellent throughout. If you like your wine, as I do, the list is quite impressive with plenty to choose from as William and Vics take trouble in their selection. The place itself is very attractively done up - it feels cosy and comfortable and sitting at your table at the end of the meal is a very enjoyable experience as you don't really want to leave.
